Abbey Barn Lane is super steep at the bottom, so get in that small chainring before turning onto the climb. The bottom part is narrow too, with the cars being forced to give way to each other over the bridge, so there's a risk of getting caught up in that. However the road widens as you climb, and has a white line in the middle for maybe the top 2/3. It's a good climb to conquer, not particularly scenic, but it passes through trees and other greenery before emerging at the new residential estate at the top. With this one, you don't have to go under or over the M40 on the actual climb, and the true gradient of the climb is preserved. As alluded, it's a bit trafficky at certain times of day, but this climb is still good.
Extra care is required when descending in damp conditions (i.e. 9 months of the year), when the steep and greasy bottom part can catch you out. One of my friends found himself sliding down the road under an oncoming car in such conditions. Fortunately the car stopped and he wasn't badly injured.
