It took a while to check whether I had taken the right turn, as it is a small narrow road. You drive up here on a nice hollow road. It is not really difficult. When the weather is not so good, the road can be dirty. At the top, there is no immediate descent. You then come between open fields where the wind can still bother you.
Het was even kijken of ik de juiste afslag had genomen, het is immers een klein smal weggetje. Je rijdt hier over een mooie holle weg naar boven. Echt lastig is het niet. Bij minder weer kan de weg wel vuil zijn. Bovenop volgt niet meteen een afdaling. Je komt dan tussen de open akkers waar de wind je nog dwars kan zitten.
This was my last climb in Limburgs Mooiste 2023 and save the best for last. It reminded me of the Rozenbos on the Veluwezoom, high ridges on either side that you cycle through, only this one is milder. The difficulty lies in the narrow road. If you ride it alone, it doesn't bother you, but in my case, there were several riders who were either too heavily geared or at the end of their rope, so they started to wobble. So that was good steering and then you notice that it is narrow enough.
Dit was mijn laatste klim in Limburgs Mooiste 2023 and save the best for last. Hij deed mij denken aan de Rozenbos op de Veluwezoom, aan weerskanten hoge aardwallen waar je doorheen fietst, alleen is deze milder. De moeilijkheid zit em in het smalle weggetje. Als je hem alleen oprijd heb je daar geen last van, maar in mij geval waren er de nodige renners die of te zwaar geschakeld stonden of aan het eind van hun latijn waren en dus gingen zwalken. Dat was goed sturen dus en dan merk je dat het smal zat is.
Lovely climb and a reasonable runner over a slightly winding hollow road (traffic free). At the top you come out on the plateau. No further views. The road has reasonable to good tarmac but can (especially in autumn / winter) be partially covered with leaves and mud.
Heerlijk klimmetje en een redelijke loper over een licht slingerende holle weg (verkeersvrij). Boven kom je uit op het plateau. Geen uitzicht verder. De weg heeft redelijk tot goed asfalt maar kan (vooral in de herfst / winter) deels bedekt zijn met bladeren en modder.
It is nice to cycle this road. You can go up here at a steady pace. Runs nicely. After a few changeable days with rain and showers there is plenty of mud. Maybe something for "nice weather cyclists" to take into account.
Het heeft wel wat om over deze weg te fietsen. Je kunt hier met een strak tempo naar boven. Loopt lekker. Na enkele wisselvallige dagen met buien en regen ligt er genoeg modder. Wellicht iets voor "mooi weer fietsers" om rekening mee te houden.
This is also a hidden climb, via a beautiful hollow road on the outskirts of Schinnen. It can be a bit muddy when it rains a lot but after the spring it is very doable. Watch out for hikers.
Dit is ook zo'n verstopte klim, via een mooie holle weg aan de rand van Schinnen. Het kan hier wat modderig zijn bij veel regenval maar na de lente is het erg goed te doen. Pas op voor de wandelaars.
