The Witte Burg is just about the chicest neighbourhood in Oostduinkerke. This street is also about the highest point in the region, not counting the Hoge Blekker dune in the neighbouring municipality of Koksijde.
From the nature reserve the Doornpanne "climb" to the top of the Witte Burg. "A perfectly normal street", you would think. But at the left-right sequence, you come across a closet of a grey villa. Here lives none other than the Godfather of Flemish children's song and owner of the most famous dog in the Benelux: Gert Verhulst!
That is why - with some exaggeration and a hint of bias - I give this "climb" a score of 5 stars!
De Witte Burg is zowat de chiqueste wijk van Oostduinkerke. Deze straat is eveneens ongeveer het hoogste punt van de regio, de Hoge Blekker-duin te buurtgemeente Koksijde buiten beschouwing gelaten.
Vanuit het natuurdomein de Doornpanne "klim" je naar de top van de Witte Burg. "Een doodnormale straat", zou je denken. Maar bij de links-rechts-sequentie kom je een kast van een grijze villa tegen. Hier woont niemand minder dan the Godfather van het Vlaamse kinderlied en baasje van de bekendste hond van de Benelux: Gert Verhulst!
Daarom geef ik - met enige vorm van overdrijving en een hintje bias- deze "klim" een score van 5 sterren!
