The pass meanders through a beautiful gorge and is a visual treat. Road surface is smooth, and although the gradients are steep just after halfway, they don't change frequently and/ or suddenly, so it's easy enough to find the right gear and rhythm. Ignore the cars and enjoy the scenery. ... read more

Challenging and beautiful climb through a spectacular gorge. Although steep, you can get into a rhytm. Can be busy with traffic on a relatively small road. Smooth asphalt. Main connection between Castleton and Chapel-en-le-Frith which explains the traffic.
