The first few hundred metres after the turn-off from Steinberg are pretty steep and you wonder what you have let yourself in for but then the gradient decreases and the road weaves up past farms and then forest with great views down to the Lauerzsee and the alps beyond. The last two hundred metres to the top are the steepest and a bit of a shock!
There's a restaurant too at the top.
I've done this little climb a few times now so it's not all bad. Cars are not allowed up the last third or so apart from access so that's nice too.
