Actually, it is never a punishment to cycle along the car-free Waalkade with a view of the Waal river and the Waal bridge. You can then immediately add to that this climb that goes up in a nice curve. Just when you think you are there, there follows a spiteful final stretch.
Het is eigenlijk nooit een straf om over de autoluwe Waalkade te fietsen met zicht op de Waal en de Waalbrug. Daar kun je daarna meteen deze beklimming aan toevoegen die in een mooie bocht naar boven loopt. Net als je er denkt te zijn, volgt er nog een nijdig laatste stukje.
A nicer route than from the Ubbergseweg because you drive up from the Waalkade with also a clear uphill section before the bend starts. Moreover, you now follow the priority road to the right so other traffic hardly plays a role. By the way, you also have a longer view of the Hofberg where the German bunker is clearly visible and the Belvedere.
Een mooiere route dan vanuit de Ubbergseweg omdat je vanaf de Waalkade omhoog rijdt met ook een duidelijk stijgend deel voordat de bocht begint. Bovendien volg je nu de voorrangsweg naar rechts zodat ander verkeer amper een rol speelt. Je hebt trouwens ook langer zicht op de Hofberg waar de Duitse bunker goed zichtbaar is en op de Belvedère.
