Not too difficult false flat climb over the road from Meerssen to Ulestraten. Just after Vliek castle, turn left towards Geulle/Maastricht for the last part of the climb. At the junction with the road past the airport, you're at the top.
Niet te moeilijke vals plat klim over de weg van Meerssen naar Ulestraten. Net na kasteel Vliek ga je linksaf richting Geulle/Maastricht voor het laatste stukje van de klim. Op de splitsing met de weg langs het vliegveld ben je op de top.
Climb via the cycle path along the main road from Meerssen to Ulestraten. No spectacular views and quanstijgingapercentage this climb can be ridden on the outdoor pool. Therefore not worth a diversion, but fine to do as a connection to the north.
Klim via het fietspad langs de doorgaande weg van Meerssen naar Ulestraten. Geen spectaculair uitzicht en quanstijgingapercentage kan deze klim op het buitenbad worden gereden. Het alternatief via de hekstraat is uitdagennder en met een mooiere landelijke omgeving. Daarom geen omweg waard, maar prima te doen als verbinding naar het noorden.
A varied climb but not because of the slope. For the most part it is hardly noticeable. First you ride on a bicycle lane, then on a two-way bike path to the left of the road and further on another bicycle lane. After the estate you turn left and from there on it starts to climb a bit, with a chance of a strong headwind at the top. The rest of the route is on perfect tarmac and the surroundings are beautiful.
Left and right nice climbs that you can certainly tackle.
Gevarieerd klimmetje maar niet vanwege de helling. Die is grotendeels amper te merken. Je rijdt eerst op een fietsstrook, dan op een tweerichtingsfietspad links van de weg en verderop weer over een fietsstrook. Na het landgoed ga je linksaf en vanaf daar begint het een beetje te klimmen, waarbij je bovenin ook nog kans hebt op flinke wind tegen. Perfect asfalt verder en een fraaie omgeving (die naast het traject ook voor veel variatie zorgt).
Links en rechts aardige klimmetjes die je zeker mee kan pakken.
The Vliek is over 2 kilometers false flat and only when you turn left from the Sint Catharina into the Vliek it starts to look like a climb. It doesn't mean much. If you leave Meerssen you have to take the bicycle path on the left side of the road. It stays that way until you enter Ulestraten. With wind from the west you have to work hard the last 600 meters. If you don't make any progress it's not because of the asphalt. It is like a billiard cloth.
De Vliek is ruim 2 kilometer vals plat en pas als je van de Sint Catharina linksaf de Vliek inrijdt begint het op een klimmetje te lijken. Veel stelt het niet voor. Als je Meerssen uitrijdt moet je verder over het fietspad links van de rijbaan. Dat blijft zo totdat je Ulestraten inrijdt. Met wind uit het westen mag je de laatste 600 meter flink aan de bak. Als je daar niet vooruit komt ligt het niet aan het asfalt. Dat is als een biljartlaken.
