An interesting climb off the Varese-Valganna-Ponte Tresa state road after the Varese bypass roundabout on the left. The first section is essentially flat in the midst of an industrial area until it enters Via Olona (the road that skirts the Lindt factory). After the turn, the road enters a narrow valley crossed by the Olona river, which has a few small waterfalls along this stretch. The road becomes narrow and crosses a small group of old houses close to the small river just a few kilometres upstream at La Rasa. In this section, the most difficult slopes are tackled, even over 10% at a small series of hairpin bends. When the road tends to make a long right-hand bend (bypassing the park of Villa Toeplitz), the gradient becomes more manageable again until it almost becomes nil until the last stretch that leads to the road that connects Varese to S. Ambrogio and Fogliaro. A few years ago it was included in the three Varese valleys as the last asperity before the arrival in the centre.
Qualche anno fa era inclusa nelle tre valli varesine come ultima asperità prima dell'arrivo in centro.
