This road is cobbles (sanpietrini) all the way up to the church, but they are well laid so it's a quite comfortable ride. Very steep though! You can continue from the church on a tarmac road to the terrain of Villa Tuscolana and then from there to Via del Tuscolo; so no need to descend the same way you came.
