As one of the few climbs in the area, I was disappointed with this one. The climb is nice and snappy, but the road surface is very bad in places and when overtaking traffic you have to be very careful not to fall on your snuff. Also, you hardly have any nice views throughout the climb, except for the last 300 metres. In my opinion, there are much more beautiful and pleasant climbs in the area.
Mij is deze klim als een van de weinige klimmetjes in de omgeving tegengevallen. De klim is lekker pittig, maar het wegdek is op plaatsen heel slecht en met inhalen verkeer moet je dus ontzettend oppassen dan je niet op je snufferd gaat. Ook heb je gedurende de gehele klim nauwelijks mooi uitzicht, op de laatste 300 meter na. Naar mijn mening zijn er in de omgeving veel mooiere en aangenamere klimmen.
My personal favourite! Perfect tarmac at the beginning of the climb! Nice long effort on a climb that is not constant, but never really gets super steep.
Mega fast descent via the côte de Desnie is a nice reward!

This climb is definitely a must with this road surface and length. From Stoutmont onwards it is unfortunately less smooth but quieter.
Deze klim is zeker een aanrader met dit wegdek en deze lengte. Vanaf Stoutmont helaas wat minder glad maar wel rustiger.
The first part you cycle on the main road with lots of traffic. After you've turned left the village of Stoumont, the scenery improves. The climb is fairly even, the tarmac is good and here and there you have nice views over your left shoulder through the trees.
Het eerste deel fiets je over de grote weg met veel verkeer. Nadat je in Stoumont bent afgeslagen en het dorp uit fietst wordt het mooier. De klim is dan redelijk gelijkmatig, het asfalt is goed en her en der heb je over je linkere schouder mooie uitzichten tussen de bomen door.
My favorite climb in the Ardennes. The long variant from the valley of the Lienne (Targnon). Especially if you already had the long approach from Remouchamps. Disadvantage is indeed the busy road, especially in the summer months. Cars and motorcyclists know this route also frequently to find and especially the gas pedal there.....
Mijn favoriete beklimming in de Ardennen. De lange variant vanuit de vallei van de Lienne (Targnon). Zeker als je al de lange aanloop vanuit Remouchamps hebt gehad. Nadeel is inderdaad de drukke weg, vooral in de zomermaanden. Auto's en motorrijders weten deze route ook veelvuldig te vinden en vooral dan het gaspedaal daarbij.....
Climb is along a major road, but the traffic was pretty good! I rode it up on a Sunday maybe it has something to do with that. A nice runner.
Klim ligt langs een grote baan, maar het verkeer viel vrijwel goed mee! Ik heb hem opgereden op een zondag misschien dat het daarmee wel te maken heeft. Een mooie loper.

I rode Sunday morning at 07:30 and only 1 car passed by. At a busier time, with the cars racing around, you will definitely have a different experience.

Ik reed zondag ochtend om 07:30 en er kwam maar 1 auto voorbij. Op een drukker tijdstip zal je met de rondrazende auto’s zeker een andere ervaring hebben.
If you start from the bridge over the Ambleve and then immediately turn right you have an extra climb on a narrow road (bad road surface) with a pretty steep wall under the railway bridge. So you start with pain in the legs to the real climb.
Als je van het bruggetje over de Ambleve start en dan meteen rechts draait heb je nog een extra klimmetje op een smalle weg (slecht wegdek) met een best pittige muur onder de spoorweg brug. Zo begin je al met pijn aan de benen aan de echte klim.
Nice steady long climb. A good alternative to the rosier but not as nice however. Road is not too busy
I only did the part from the bottom to Stoumont, and that is quite reasonable. At the S-curve, there are indeed parts that meet the 10％ I believe.
Ik deed enkel het deel van beneden tot Stoumont, en dat is erg redelijk te doen. Bij de S-bocht heb je inderdaad wel delen die aan de 10％ komen geloof ik.

Le Fagotin (excellent Hotel-Hostel) in Stoumont where the climb La Vecquée really starts then descend to Spa for the Cote Le Rosier back (strange that here a sign La Vecquée is) according to me someone has moved it. nice round trip!

Nice climb with percentages that are just a bit easier so it is also fun for the less strong cyclists to do. It "runs" as they call it. In terms of traffic, it was not too bad and our experience is that in Belgium, they are very considerate of cyclists. The descent is fantastic with good tarmac. Here and there you have to watch out for small "bumps".
Mooie klim met percentages die net even wat makkelijker zijn waardoor het ook voor de minder sterke fietsers leuk is om te doen. Hij " loopt" zoals dat dan zo mooi heet. Qua verkeer vielt het erg mee en onze ervaring is dat men in België zeer goed rekening houdt met fietsers. De afdaling is fantastisch met prima asfalt. Hier en daar even goed opletten voor kleine " oneffenheden" .
Very nice climb. If you let yourself be tempted to continue on the easy part up to Stoumont, you will be punished hard after the turn towards Spa. For 2,5 km the climb is steep. But on better asphalt which lends itself for a fast descent.
Erg fijne beklimming. Als je je op het makkelijke stuk tot aan Stoumont laat verleiden om goed door te trekken, wordt je na de afslag richting Spa hard gestraft. 2,5 kilometer loopt het stevig omhoog. Wel over beter asfalt wat zich leent voor een snelle afdaling.
