As a climb a bit of an "instinkertje". Until halfway, the gradient rises like a spicier false flat and the climbing is not too bad. This is followed by the steepest part and you have to work hard to cycle up. The last part to the top then flattens out again.

Start is definitely not steep which makes you feel a bit wrong about what follows.

Nice climb but is slightly less tackled, probably due to its similar 'neighbours' (Ladeuze, Eikenberg, Kapelleberg, boigneberg). However, it is still a nice climb to take in. Quiet, beautiful scenery. Harder than you might think because of the steep section in the middle and the cobbles after the top. Maybe that's why most prefer to ride up Kapelleberg anyway?

Have done this climb a few times now, and keep misfiring a bit. Quite a steep section in the middle. Other than that, nice tarmac all over the climb. After the top, though, a bit of cobbles which you can miss if you've just climbed this mountain?

Nice climb without too much traffic, possibility to climb at your ease, after the climb a few hundred meters on cobblestones.

Nice climb with good tarmac. Going up slowly is not possible, after the steep part the trick is to speed up before the cobblestones. For the real Flemish feeling.

From the start the asphalt road of the Varent winds steeply upwards...Don't be discouraged, 3 minutes in the red and the worst is over, although, when you think you're there, you still get a few 100m of cobblestones...
