Did this climb 3 years ago and was pleasantly surprised.
Started from the camping (Norcenni) and cycled nice and warm until the foot of the climb.
The first few miles to Donnini you meander through the vineyards and you'll get your first altitude meters without even realizing it.
Only when you take the SP85 in Tosi the climbing becomes a bit more serious.
Not much later you cycle into the Vallombrosa nature reserve and it is enjoyable.
The chances of encountering a roe deer, fallow deer or a wild animal are just as high as a cyclist.
At the monastery you can just keep on cycling, despite the signs that you may not drive.
Here it is a bit busier with hikers or nuns, but the job is done.
The big advantage of Tuscany is that almost no climb ends in a dead end, so you can always cycle a round trip.
On the other side of the road I descended via Saltino to Vaggio and not much later I arrived back at the camp site.
