I’ve just completed this climb up to San Nicolo. The road surface is fine, contrary to earlier reviews here. Perhaps I took a wrong turn? A lovely climb through an impressive valley with rock faces. Steep gradients between Valle and San Nicolo. There’s a little fountain here for fresh water.
