Little traffic and good road surface. Beginning and end are indeed spicy. Beautiful views. After the Laponesalmhütte you can continue for more than one km unpaved to the end of the valley.

Weinig verkeer en goed wegdek. Begin en eind zjjn inderdaad pittig. Mooie uitzichten.

The Gschnitz valley, situated on the western flank of the Brenner pass is one of the many Austrian dead-end valleys you can cycle into.
The climb starts at the roundabout when entering Steinach am Brenner (coming from Innsbruck) after which one quickly climbs under the imposing bridge construction of the Brenner motorway. The first and last kilometres of the long climb are tough with a long slope (false flat/slight descent) from village to village in a wide valley largely following the mountain river. Wide road with light curves narrows towards the end to end just past the Lamponis Hütte (supply point) where the asphalt stops overlooking the snowy peaks.

Good long warm up climb with a tough finish!
