A runner this this Trassierra. But beware of a dangerous road with not too much traffic but fast driving cars and as typical for Spain no bicycle path. The col is only halfway as heavy in the curved part.
But the biggest killer here is the heat because the col starts from Cordoba and that is not only the hottest city in Spain but also in Europe. In winter, the temperature rarely drops below 18 degrees, even at night, and in summer 38 to 40 degrees is normal. The climb has little or no shade. Timely drinking and sunbathing is not a luxury. If you're there anyway go enjoy the city of Cordoba with many different architectural styles and beautiful churches and mosques and Cordaba or the region is heritage of UNESCO. Besides, it is in Cordoba that the Moors established their rise. It was in ancient times one of the most important cities in the world and you can still see a lot of remains of that time and also of the Romans who had here one of their most important cities.
