A steady climb from Apeldoorn in the direction of Amersfoort. A nice environment but technically not really interesting. To just cycle a nice trip though.
Voortkabbelende klim vanuit Apeldoorn richting Amersfoort. Wel een fraaie omgeving verder maar technisch niet echt interessant. Om gewoon te fietsen wel een leuke tocht.
What Etkin said years ago is also my experience. From the Naald/Paleis het Loo you first cycle for more than a kilometer flat, then it gets seriously steep (steep in the Veluwe area) until slightly after the Julianatoren and then it is just babbling on. It almost feels wrong to claim this climb as the longest climb in the Netherlands. Anyone who has ridden both the Camerig and the Torenberg knows which of the two is the real climb.
Wat Etkin jaren geleden al zei is ook mijn ervaring. Vanaf de Naald/Paleis het Loo fiets je eerst ruim een kilometer vlak, daarna wordt het serieus steil (Veluws steil dan) tot iets na de Julianatoren en daarna is het gewoon doorkabbelen. Het voelt bijna verkeerd als Apeldoorner om deze klim te claimen als de langste klim van Nederland. Iedereen die zowel de Camerig als de Torenberg heeft gereden weet welke van de twee de echte klim is.
Nice climb to the highest paved point of Gelderland. Nice through the woods and then you can go down again towards Uddel (with a very nice piece over the heath) or via Hoog Soeren to Assel (and that is I think one of the most beautiful roads on the Veluwe).
This is a long climb, from the roundabout rather false flat, but certainly not easy. You cycle over a cycle path, which has good tarmac.
It is the Veluwe, so on a sunny day from about 10 o'clock all the tourists and elderly people on ebikes come out and then it is often a bit busier, but not very annoying. If you take it down and the amusement park the Julianatoren is open, pay very close attention, because there are a lot of people and small children walking on the bicycle path.
Leuke klim naar volgens mij het hoogste bestrate punt van Gelderland. Mooi door de bossen en je kan daarna weer omlaag richting Uddel (met een heel mooi stuk over de hei) of via Hoog Soeren naar Assel (en dat is denk ik een van de mooiste wegen op de Veluwe).
Dit is een lange klim, vanaf de rotonde eerder vals plat maar daarvoor zeker niet makkelijk. Je fiets over een fietspad, wat prima asfalt heeft.
Het is de Veluwe, dus op een zonnige dag komen vanaf een uurtje of 10 alle toeristen en bejaarden op een ebikes naar buiten en dan is het vaak wat drukker, maar niet heel hinderlijk. Als je deze naar beneden doet en het pretpark de Julianatoren is open, let dan heel goed op, want er lopen heel veel mensen en kleine kinderen over het fietspad.
Actually a pretty nice climb, the nicest around Apeldoorn. Profile above gives a bit of a distorted view. The part along Julianatoren is about 5% over 300/400 meters. From the roundabout I wouldn't call it a climb at all.
Eigenlijk een best leuk klimmetje, de leukste rondom Apeldoorn. Profiel hierboven geeft wel een beetje een vertekend beeld weer. Het stuk langs Julianatoren is toch wel ongeveer 5% over 300/400 meter. Vanaf de rotonde zou ik het eigenlijk geen klim weer willen noemen.
