Long & generally steady climb from Denbigh up to Llyn Brenig, with one extremely steep section (15-20%) for maybe 500-1000 metres. The road surface is generally good, but in early 2026 the section beyond the cross roads with the B5435 was sprayed with chippings for a few kms; not a problem for climbing but could be sketchy if descending that way. The views are great once you’re nearing the lake; out to sea over your right shoulder, and across the lake on your left. Usually very little / no traffic. Worth stopping at the lakeside cafe on the western shore.

Not the most scenic, the avg gradient is a little deceptive because of the downhills. Some steep bits, road fairly quiet though.
