Leaving Ratlinghope and initially ascending through trees, you will eventually arrive at a cattle grid. To your right there is a view across to the Stiperstones, ahead the road gently rises across the moorland, fern-lined in the summer, to a summit on top of the Long Mynd. The road is quite narrow, cars need to use passing places, and the surface is a bit broken in many places, so one to maintain the concentration on. It's a pleasant climb though, with rewarding views during and after the ascent.
