The last 3 km are really tough. We climb for 6 to 7 km on a main road in good condition before turning right for the last 4 km on a secondary road in the middle of a forest. Beautiful countryside and scenery at the top.
Les 3 derniers kms sont vraiment durs. On monte pendant 6 à 7kms sur une grande route en bon état avant de virer à droite pour les 4 derniers kms sur une route secondaire en pleine forêt. Très belle nature et beau paysage au sommet.
Actually a climb in 3 parts. First part about 3 km at about 5 per cent on a relatively busy through road. It is better to take the route via Lautenbach here, a lot steeper in the village, but also a lot quieter and nicer. After this first part, you get a kilometre of slightly downhill. Then part 2 starts, still the same through road, but by now a lot quieter, the asphalt unfortunately also gets worse. Here it starts to climb a bit harder, at one point you turn right into a forest road, here it keeps on climbing nicely. At the next right turn, towards Teufelsmühle, section 3 starts, here it gets really steeper, almost 3 km at over 10 percent. When you are almost at the top it flattens out a bit, but this is deceptive, the last 200m are still really steep, with the steepest parts of the whole climb. At the top, a short stretch on the dirt road to the tower to enjoy the view.
Eigenlijk een klim in 3 delen. Eerste deel zo'n 3 km aan een procent of 5 over een relatief drukke doorgaande weg. Je kunt hier beter de route via Lautenbach nemen, in het dorp een stuk steiler, maar ook een stuk rustiger en mooier. Na dit eerste deel krijg je een kilometer licht dalend. Daarna begint deel 2, nog steeds dezelfde doorgaande weg, maar inmiddels wel een stuk rustiger, het asfalt wordt helaas ook slechter. Hier begint het al wat steviger te klimmen, op een gegeven moment sla je rechtsaf een bosweg in, hier blijft het lekker doorklimmen. Bij de volgende bocht rechtsaf, richting Teufelsmühle begint deel 3, hier wordt het echt steiler, bijna 3 km aan ruim 10 procent. Als je bijna boven bent vlakt het wat af, maar dit is bedriegelijk, de laatste 200m zijn nog echt steil, met de steilste stukken van de hele klim. Boven even een klein stukje over het onverharde naar de toren om van het uitzicht te genieten.
