A great climb with the most challenging part in the first half. Road conditions range from ‘brand new’ to ‘good enough’. The viewpoint at the finish is disappointing, but there are nice viewpoints along the way. The starting point is the same as for Le Pleynet.
One of the few climbs in the region around Grenoble that I had never done by bike (but by car, to go skiing at this nice resort :-). It is indeed surprisingly difficult, and especially regular in its difficulty: no respite until you reach the end of the Collet d'Allevard resort. Then a very short descent and the last few kilometres are much less steep until Super Collet.
Very nice views after the first kilometres on Allevard and its surroundings, and fantastic panoramas once arrived at the Collet. Between the two, you are almost permanently in the middle of the forest. Weakness: the road is in a rather average state, which surprised me. On the cliff side, there are a lot of small parts of the road that have collapsed and cracks in which the wheels can get caught if you are inattentive. You have to be careful on the way down, which is very fast.
Fine and tough climb. At some points high gradient that alternates with more manageable ones.
The climb to Collet d'Allevard is a short but dry climb.
About 12km long, on a nice wide road with a good surface, the climb is particularly difficult because of its high gradients.
The laces are far from each other, which makes the relaunching quite difficult, no respite from the slope before the 11th kilometer.
As for the scenery, as the climb is lined with trees, you will have to take advantage of a few gaps and especially the final stretch at the station to see the valley.
If you still have some juice left, you can continue to the Super Collet parking lot 4 kilometers further with relatively modest gradients and a lesser quality surface when I went there.
If you want to warm up, I advise you to start from the parking of the small lake ST clair at la Rochette 10km before, picnic corners for the return and especially sanitary facilities and drinking water.
Good road and be careful
Cycled this summer. Beautiful climb. From Collet d'Allavard you can continue to climb to Super Collet. Still about 4 km extra climb, although at lower percentages. Makes it in any case even harder. Good luck!
Deze zomer gefietst. Mooie klim. Succes!
