This climb goes through St. Luc, but actually ends quite a bit further down the road in Chandolin. Be aware Chandolin is a dead end so you’ll either have to head back to St. Luc to connect to another town. However, when on a mountainbike Chandolin also offers off road connections higher up the mountain.
As for this climb for the most part you are cycling in the cover of trees, which is especially nice on hot sunny days. It’s ‘only’ 10km but at altitude it can be quite challenging for some. In Vissoie you start at around 1200m and climb to Chandolin at almost 2000m. It’s a nice climb with breathtaking views (just before St. Luc you can see the Matterhorn). I always use it to warm-up on tarmac before heading off-road to Tignousa and Hotel Weisshorn for a nice mountainbike tour. It’s an ideal climb for warming up as it’s nice and steady al the way.
