Steep, but fantastically beautiful ascent! At the top there is a fantastic panoramic view of Bergell! With a gravel bike, it is possible to ride first along small roads and then along the well-maintained hiking trail through a short tunnel before returning to the road at the bottom. Highly recommended!... read more

Sehr empfehlenswert!

Climb to a very old and well preserved authentic Swiss village on the flank of the Bregaglia valley where the Maloja pass passes (cycled July 2022).
You start with a long straight climb along the valley flank then some hairpin bends to end at a hotel and church on the sunny mountain terrace with parking and views of 3000 m. peaks. The short route flirts continuously with percentages above 10%. You can cycle on narrow stone-paved alleys into the car-free village up to a small spring at the historic Hotel Palazzo Salis (built 1630).
Italian successful impressionist painter Giovanni Segantini (1858-1890) described Soglio as
the threshold of paradise" !
I thought I could see this in the descent from the Maloja pass, but it was a very steep threshold, yet beautiful as a paradise!
