Very demanding climb, more than it seems ... it starts steep but with a wide road up to Civiglio, then the music changes ... the road becomes very narrow and ups and downs very hard. Steep from brunate to the cao hut...watch out for traffic...and the many Russian tourists passing through! ;-p

One arrives from Tavernerio (leaving the car near the church) or better still from Como by taking the Solzago climb.
The first stretch at the crossroads is quite demanding. This stretch to Civiglio is often done downhill from the Giro di Lombardia.
At Civiglio a leg-breaking stretch will make you suffer until the entrance to the town of Brunate.
There you will be able to breathe a little, but only for a short time, because from the funicular station the climb starts again and will take you as far as the S.Maurizio lighthouse (wonderful view of Como) and the CAO hut.
Water fountains in the villages and the possibility of refreshments on arrival (excellent local food in the huts).
Very busy road at weekends and with a variable surface (good in places with many patches).

A Civiglio uno stroppo spacca gambe vi farà soffrire sino all'ingresso dell'abitato di Brunate.
