I tackled the climb as a starting point for a tour to the Liechtenstein border with Austria. From the village of Maienfled, one ascends through vineyards towards Heididorf with a beautiful view of the Rhine valley. The climb is short but not trivial and tackled without an initial warm-up took my breath away.

Nice climb but a nasty one. I thought to sneak away from my mates who were in a better shape but I had to suffer through it on the steep part. Too long to cycle on power. I managed for the first half kilometer but then my legs started to fill up because it got steeper and steeper. At the top you have a barracks so when we were eating our bars and bananas on the parking lot all kinds of military trucks and tracked vehicles came parading by. This climb is absolutely the best choice if you want to cycle from Chur to the north, much nicer than the Rhine valley (and less wind by the way).
