It is a magnificent climb. It starts right in the central square of Barbarano, wedging itself into Via del Vicariato, and while still in the town centre you already find the first treacherous inclines. It continues on a wide, well asphalted road for a few kilometres, with a truly discontinuous profile, in which ramps that reach even above 10% are interspersed with restful, even downhill stretches. Halfway along the route, attention must be paid to a crossroads where Via Mandolare becomes Via Garzola. The small road to the right is Via San Donato, and this is the one to take. A few metres later a new junction distinguishes San Donato from Fagnini. One must take a right to the hermitage. From here the road narrows and becomes more fascinating. There are wonderful views to the south-east and almost total solitude to the end. Further downhill stretches alternate with uphill stretches, the asphalt is still good and a few groves allow you to enjoy the lower temperatures, while the rest of the climb is almost all in the sun.
All in all, a climb not to be missed, for the scenery, the variety of the profile, the excellent asphalt (which allows you to descend without difficulty) and the views.
