This is actually the first part of the 2637 m high col de Parpaillon. The last 8 km is better to ride with a full size mtb. I took the climb while obtaining my "Brevet des sept cols de l' Ubaye". Pretty tough climb with some nasty sections. Quite a beautiful, yet desolate environment.... read more

This is actually the first part of the 2637 m high col de Parpaillon. The last 8 km is better to ride with a full size mtb. I took the climb while obtaining my "Brevet des sept cols de l' Ubaye". Pretty tough climb with some nasty sections. Quite a beautiful, yet desolate environment. You get in the beginning kilometers regularly view of the Ubaye river. But the views on the surrounding, whether or not snowy rock massifs remain the most memorable. For the rest there is little to see except the ski resort of la Condamine, where of course 's little to do in summer. I did this climb in combination with the col de Larche and the climb to Super-Sauze. https://analytics.strava.com/activities/645969841

Relatively nice landscapes but without much interest. Very bad road (under construction) and nothing at the top.
Just interesting as an alternative to the Vars pass with some nice gradients

I climbed it after having conquered the Col de la Bonette and the Col de Vars. Pretty tough climb, but short!
