Lovely climb that starts off fairly tough and then climbs further with "normal" gradient hairpin after hairpin until it reaches the mountain station. Then it's off cycling. In the second part, sometimes nice views and the 12 hairpins are numbered and indicate altitude. Good asphalt and very little traffic.
The ascent begins at a car park and starts well. After that, the ascent becomes easier and the hairpin bends are somewhat reminiscent of those of the mountains in the Alps, only everything is flatter and smaller. The people from the cable car, which you pass under several times, occasionally cheer the cyclists on. Once at the top, you can continue the tour, either back to Saarburg or to the little village of Mannebach.
I use this climb a lot. Easily accessible from Saarburg city centre. The street is called 'in den Urlaub', about 2.5 km, the first one about 8%, the rest is easier. 330 m max above sea level. Beautiful serpentines and an excellent view of the Saar. Descent and/or alternative climb from Ayl and from Mannebach also recommended. It's worth a little trip. The tarmac is excellent and, apart from in summer, the climb is seldom used.
Je fréquente beaucoup cette montée. Facilement accessible depuis Saarbourg centre ville.
Nice start and finish from the campsite. Start is toughest after that a bit easier. Good exercise for when you have a bit less time. Then down and up a few times and fine interval training behind you 😊
If you are in the area, it is fun to do this climb.
You can also drive into the park. On the other side of the park you can go down towards the L137/135.
Very nice climb in the direction of the Landal Park Warsberg. Beautiful views over the Saar and Saarburg. All bends are numbered by signs. The beginning is the hardest.
Erg leuke klim richting het Landalpark Warsberg. Mooi uitzicht over de Saar en Saarburg. Alle bochten zijn genummerd door bordjes. Begin is het zwaarst.
