Forest road to the Croix Scaille. Road surface ok for the most part. At an open section in the forest you climb treacherously steep for a while, but otherwise it's not a difficult climb. Above an observation tower and a kiosk, near the French border. Just before the summit the road surface is a lot worse, and the descent the other way is also a bit less for that reason.
Bosweg naar de Croix Scaille. Wegdek het grootste deel ok. Bij een open stuk in het bos klim je nog even verraderlijk steil door, maar voor de rest is het geen lastige klim. Boven een uitkijktoren en een kiosk, vlak bij de Franse grens. Vlak voor de top is het wegdek een stuk slechter, en de afdaling de andere kant is om die reden ook wat minder.
Popular hiking area, also because of that lookout tower at the top. Hence also slightly busier than similar slopes nearby. I still found that 300 metres at 8-9％ treacherous, especially because it looks less steep, and because there is no shelter from the sun at that spot.
Populair wandelgebied, ook vanwege die uitkijktoren op de top. Vandaar ook iets drukker dan vergelijkbare hellingen in de buurt. Die 300 meter aan 8 à 9％ vond ik toch verraderlijk, vooral omdat het er minder steil uitziet, en omdat er op die plek geen enkele beschutting is tegen de zon.

Not too heavy. And at the top you can climb a beautiful watchtower.
On this site the climb is mentioned under the name Croix ScailleX, but that is wrong the name is without X.

Niet te zwaar. En bovenaan kan je nog een prachtige uitkijktoren beklimmen.
Op deze site staat de klim onder de naam Croix ScailleX, maar dat is fout de benaming is zonder X.
