Nice climb. Also plenty of time for contemplation when you've cycled past the concentration camp halfway up. At the top of the plateau a nice flow. Then blow through to Le Hohwald for coffee.
Aardige klim. Ook tijd genoeg voor overdenkingen als je halverwege langs het concentratiekamp bent gefietst. Bovenop het plateau een lekkere flow. Daarna doorblazen naar Le Hohwald voor de koffie.
This is the easiest route up Champ du Feu.
The route is quiet and shaded. The first part is via the Magel valley (D266 and D66): false flat (2-3％) at the start and around 7％ in the last 3km before the junction with the D214, at around 860m (road coming from Klingenthal). The road continues towards the Rothlach pass with easy gradients apart from a brief passage at 10％ between the Rothlach and the 1000m mark.

La route est calme et à l'ombre. La première partie se fait par la vallée de la Magel (D266 et D66) : en faux plat (2-3％) au début et autour de 7％ dans les 3 derniers km avant la jonction avec la D214, vers 860m (route venant de Klingenthal). La route se poursuit vers le col de la Rothlach avec des pentes faciles hormis un bref passage à 10％ entre la Rothlach et la cote 1000m.
A fairly easy climb, with no major irregularities. Nice views at the top, not many cars, so quite pleasant. Most of the climb is through woodland, which is pleasant in summer.
Montée assez roulante, sans grande irrégularité. Jolie vue au sommet, peu de voiture donc assez agréable. La plupart de la montée se fait dans la forêt, ce qui est agréable l'été.
The highest pass in the Northern Voges. I did it from Obernai via Otrott and Kupferhammer. The signposting is good and there are markers along the road indicating the km and the height. The condition of the road is excellent and - above all - the road is wide. There are no areas that are too steep, it's quite harmonious. I did this climb on a Saturday in March, the weather was good and - all the same - the traffic was very quiet. The view of the St. Odile mountain next to it is excellent and the pass with the roundabout and the little tower looks iconic. It is highly recommendable.
Le Col le plus haut des Voges du Nord. Je l'ai fait depuis Obernai via Otrott et Kupferhammer. La signalisation est bonne et il y a des bornes le long de la route qui indiquent les km et la hauteur. L'état de la rue est excellent et - surtout - la rue est large. Il n'y a pas de secteur trop raide, c'est plutôt harmonique. J'ai fait cette montée un samedi de mars, il faisait beau et - tout de même - le trafic était très calme. La vue du mont Ste Odile à côté est excellente et le col avec le rond-point et la petite tour a un air iconique. C'est très recommandable.
