This is probably the worst way up if you want to avoid traffic. The steepest bit is near the bottom on a residential road that feels narrower than higher up. You are likely to be obstructing cars that are coming up, as others come down. A bit anxiety-provoking! As the map shows there are several quieter and nicer ways to reach Rodborough Common, some shallow, some steep. There is a permanent ice cream shop on the common, very popular.
