I cycled this climb during Mendig-Budel (245km, 2600hm). This tour is held annually on the first Saturday of July. Highly recommended.
The ascent of the Reifferscheid is in the first part of the tour, so my legs were still OK. The climb itself is somewhat irregular, but never really steep. Nice climb to take, for example with the Hohe Acht
