Road names: Church Lane & Radnage Lane
2.0 by SteveLThere are no easy ways out of Radnage, and this climb doesn't buck that trend. The road runs between high hedges nearly all the way up, and there isn't much to see. I disliked this climb for a long time, but I've come to terms with it now, and the route through Radnage from Stokenchurch towards the Bledlows is actually a good way of staying off the busier roads, despite its toughness.
However, once you're up, you're up. Maybe a little more climbing if you're going to Chinnor, but if you were going to Chinnor you'd go via Sprig's Holly, which is much nicer. You might just be going to Bledlow Ridge, for Smalldean, but if you were heading to West Wycombe then the valley road out of Radnage is a far better route. No, if you've gone up here, you'll be going down Wigan's Lane towards Bledlow village, and it's an amazing descent with outstanding views to Whiteleaf, more than compensating for the toughness of the climb. Maybe it's worth that detour after all!
