One of my favourite climbs in the area with great views unfolding as you climb. Nothing too steep but a fairly long steady climb. Some nice detours can be taken - as mentioned in another review the Dobres/Cucayo road is a cracker for a short excursion. Also worth doing is continuing over San Glorio to the twon of Riano and then round by Posado de Valdeon and back out to the route out at Portilla de la Reina where you turn right and make an easier ascent back up to San Gloria. It's a great route for the downhill back to Potes, nice bends but not too much hard breaking as the gradients are not too steep.

Puerto de San Glorio is a nice and easy climb. Don't forget to turn off at the top and continue the climb to Collado de Llesba. Via a short irregular climb you reach the statue of a bear, symbol of the Picos de Europa. From here you have a beautiful view of the col and the Picos. For those who still have energy: descend back towards Potes but turn right in La Vega and climb in the side valley in a beautiful setting to Dobres and Cucayo, good for another 500 altimeters.
