Wow! Beautiful surroundings. Asphalt has definitely improved in recent years. Don't understand the above comment. Climb is also very regular from this side. Reminded me of the Ardeche, and then a bit heavier. Very regular and not too much traffic. The scenery is really beautiful!

Wauw! Prachtige omgeving.

Beautiful but very erratic climb in the Cantabrian Mountains. This climb used to be on the programme of the Cantabrian Tour and was a playground for Spanish climbers such as José Luis Abilleira, Andres Oliva and many others. The climb winds up a breathtaking landscape with lots of beautiful views and greenery along the way which is also typical of this region in Northern Spain but be careful because the road surface is not always very good and especially when wet watch out for loose gravel and bumps. The road is quite narrow and many parts have no guardrail so the abyss that fortunately is not too steep can be very dangerous. The climb is more than 14 km long and the gradient of 5,8% average is not a good indicator for the steeper parts which are certainly there with 16%. The climb also has regular flat stretches and also short descents which then rise steeply again.
