Gulpen ligt vooral op hellingen. Deze klim is er een in het dorp/stadje en voel je wel. Ik gebruikte het binnenblad.
A short but unexpectedly tough climb in the centre of Gulpen. You drive on a road that looks like a through road because of the central line, but it certainly is not one (maybe it used to be one?). The bridge over the Gulp is a small bump, then it goes downhill for a while after which the climb starts relaxed. After the left-hand bend, the picture suddenly looks very different where it really gets a lot steeper until the next bend at the cemetery. After that, the road keeps on rising slightly until the T-junction with the road to Wijlre. If you turn right here, you gain some height (see the photo with the bicycle lanes). Good tarmac.
Een kort maar onverwacht pittig klimmetje in het centrum van Gulpen. Je rijdt op een weg die vanwege de middenstreep eerder op een doorgaande weg lijkt maar dat zeker niet is (misschien vroeger?). De brug over de Gulp is een kleine hobbel, daarna gaat het even omlaag waarna de klim relaxed begint. Na de bocht naar links ziet het beeld er ineens heel anders uit waar daar wordt het echt een stuk steiler wat doorloopt tot de volgende bocht bij het kerkhof. Daarna blijft de weg iets lichter stijgen tot de T-splitsing met de weg naar Wijlre. Als je hier rechtsaf gaat pak je nog wat hoogte mee (zie de foto met de fietsstroken). Goed asfalt.
