Did Praschberg today in mid-September. Due to the rain (and snow) this week there was lots of water on the road. It was steep and after 700m in altitude there was snow left and right. Got really hard shortly before the top and the descent to Sachrang was tough as well. Breaks did not work best under these conditions. ... read more

This crisp climb is recommended without reservation. Why?
1. it starts off steeply, then flattens out for a short while and then quickly picks up again. An altitude profile without mercy.
2. it is a side road with hardly any traffic, and if it is, then no annoying tourists.
3. tarred surface in very good condition.
4. it goes up the southern flank of the Praschberg, which means the road is quickly dry. In summer it's really hot, but short forest sections offer relaxation.
5. about halfway up (in the forest to Eiberg) there is a natural fountain that runs all year round.
6. there are many great views on the way up, but the panorama at the top cannot be topped. The view from east to south to west is phenomenally rewarding.
7. the descents over the Erlerberg to the west down to Erl or to the east down to Sachrang offer themselves and thus the trip becomes a pass experience.

3. Teerbelag in sehr gutem Zustand.
