Leaves (late August 2024) in spa town Brides les Bains which makes for extra kilo/height metres in heavy traffic to start.
You leave Bozel via long straight slightly uphill road to Le Villard. At the hydroelectric plant building there, a series of 6 hairpin bends start up the forest flank.
This is also where the first white-yellow bike post of the Montée de Pralognan appears with cycling info (km. to end/altitude/%volgende km.)
Long road climbs further without extreme % with gentle curves, a few more hairpin bends, near the mountain river through small villages surrounded by imposing rock massifs to the tourist terminus of Pralognan La Vanoise.
This summer base for trekking in the National Park de La Vanoise with plenty of catering facilities need not be the end of your bike ride ! (see CF Le Prioux)

Practical: patchwork asphalt, moderate traffic, watch out (especially on the descent) for traffic inhibitors in small villages.

Nice shade climb with no extremes!

(zie CF Le Prioux)

Praktisch: Lappendekenasfalt, matig verkeer, oppassen (vooral in de afdaling) voor verkeersremmers in kleine dorpjes.

Mooie schaduwklim zonder extremen!

Good to do, not too much traffic and beautiful scenery. We continued above with one of those's routes that also takes you offroad (follow the arrows) but that was different, 12&, bumpy roads, but incredibly beautiful.

Easy climb occasionally steep sections varied with descents ideal warm-up. Occasional beautiful views especially at the top of the climb. Ends in a ski resort which is a cosy village.

Nice not too difficult climb. Only a stretch of a km or so with 9 to max 10%. The view of the mountains of the Vanoise is wonderful.

Nice climb to do as preparation for the "big boys"! Runs good and at Planay you get a long piece to bring some rest to your body or just on the big knife to test your legs. Just what you want. In short, a climb you can play with. Should be doable for most. The photo is the view over Bozel, the place where the climb starts.

The attached profile details the ascent from Bozel 860M, but the real start is in Moutiers at 480M altitude and ends at the Pont de la Peche at 1750M, so 6 kms further than the resort which is only at 1418M.
Lg 34Kms altitude difference 1270M % 1 to 7
Long and beautiful ascent but not very difficult and accessible to all with reasonable braquets without falling into the extreme.
From Moutiers take the D915 and stay on it until Pralognan.
Up to Bozel, a charming little village where you will find restaurants and fresh water fountains, the road alternates between ascents and descents with average % and some rare steep sections.
From Bozel onwards, the climb becomes a little more regular, the gradient nevertheless remains small, the % very rarely exceeding 6% kilometers, you still have 20 kms to go to reach the goal of this long climb.
At the entrance to Pralognan 2 options are available, either you cross the resort to join the final road at the other end, or you turn right just before the entrance to follow the D124 then it's straight along the torrent embellished with some picnic spots.
Parking of the Bridge of fishing altitude 1750M, departures of hikes, fishing in white water...
