In the summer the shade from the trees makes this a much more pleasant climb. The road is single lane but hardly ever has cars, you're more at risk from a descending cyclist. The surface is typical for a road like this, a little loose, some debris, occasionally green but more than manageable. Loop back down through to Marchissy just for a change. Long enough for a meaningful climb but short enough to go hard if you're up to it.
