Done during the SellaRondaBikeDay 7/9/2024 (not to be missed). This, too, is a climb without any particularly hard gradients, but if you come from the Gardena Pass, it starts to feel a bit heavy. The panorama is stupendous and you leave Trentino and enter the province of Belluno.

Climbing becomes a minor matter on this ascent, the views of the mountains are simply too beautiful for that.
Outside of the Sella Ronda Bikeday, there can certainly be a lot of traffic.

I rode the Sella as part of the Sella Ronda which is a fabulous ride. The Sella pass climb in itself is unremarkable but you come here for the scenery which is out of this world. You climb between the Sella and the Lang
& Plattkofel and the road offers superb views.

Tackled during a Sellaronda Bike Day. There are more difficult and iconic climbs, but for the unique landscapes it offers, it is definitely worth doing!

Affrontata durante un Sellaronda Bike Day.

A magnificent climb. The panorama is unparalleled, the gradients challenging but steady and never hard. Some of the straights are windswept, but in the final kilometres the landscape is high mountain, with pastures alternating with barren stretches, free-roaming animals and crisp air. At the summit, one feels a taste of "conquest". The descent to Val Gardena is no less fascinating. I think it is the most beautiful climb of the (few) I have ever done.

Fantastic scenery! A climb not to be missed, especially with the roads closed to traffic during the Sellaronda Bike Day.

Paesaggi fantastici!

It's one of those climbs where you want to stop every kilometre to take pictures. You just don't know where to look. Incredible views, good tarmac, mild percentages. I've biked 'm during the Sella Ronda Bike Day in June 2022; the Sella Ronda is then closed for motorized traffic. It is then very busy with cyclists, but I prefer that than hordes of motorcyclists and cars.

This part of the Sella Ronda tour. All the good and bad things that are associated with the Sella Ronda are valid for this climb as well. Too crowded during Summer but in these surroundings, all is forgiven ;-) It is a short climb so don't forget to enjoy the surroundings because you are at the top before you know it.

Cycled up this short climb as the last one of the Sella Ronda which for me started in Canazei (counter clockwise Pordoï/Campolongo/Gardena/Sella).
Route starts at the three way junction in Plan de Gralba and winds to the top via a long series of gentle bends. Occasionally there is a slight downhill section but always between 5-10% with short peaks. After 4.5 km you have the impression to have reached the top, but it is the parking lot of the tourist Sassolungo cable car with the Dolomiti Mountain Resort Hotel next to it. The road rises another kilometer to one of the most beautiful pass heights of the Dolomites. On the very narrow passage, between one souvenir shop and one hotel, traffic is jammed because everyone wants to enjoy the magnificent view of the three peaks of the Sassolungo, the Sella Massif and the Marmolada glacier.
On busy summer days, the pass is therefore marred by parked cars on the side of the road!

Short climb in magnificent natural scenery!

Korte klim in magistraal natuurdecor!
