This is a nice climb in a fairly remote area. I recommend climbing from this side and descending via Coli and Bobbio, since the condition of the road is far from ideal in the middle section.
From Perino you start climbing on the road to Passo Cerro, then turn right before the bridge towards Villanova and Aglio. Here the asphalt condition deteriorates quite a bit.
It'sa fairly enjoyable climb until Aglio, where you can refill your water bottles at the fountain. After that you get a fairly steep section with a couple of hairpin turns. The main challenge here is due to the potholes and gravel / debris on the road, and that's also why I don't like descending from here. Once you get to SP 57 to Pradovera the road improves a lot, and it's a fairly steady climb until you reach "L' Angelone" (The big angel statue) which marks the pass itself.
At this point I usually continue on the left to reach the nearby Sella dei Generali and then a great descent towards Coli and Bobbio.
