Nice climb with slightly different views (meadows) compared to more famous neighbors. Very little traffic, but unfortunately a lot of flies probably due to many cows by the roadside. Go for it if you want variety to Sella Ronda & Giau loop and think Fedaia and Tre Cime Lavaredo are too hard for the day.... read more

I climbed the Passo delle Erbe from San Martino in Badia on 14 October 2025. Very nice day even if a bit chilly, especially on the descent. The ascent is very beautiful, with an average road surface. For those who, like me, start from the village, there is no way to warm up the leg, because you are already on the climb. The first 7 km are rideable, we are around 6/7% average gradient. Then it is downhill for a couple of kilometres to a bridge just before the village of Antermoia, where the road begins to climb more steeply for the remaining 5 km with a few peaks up to 10%. This is the slightly more challenging part of a climb just under 14 km long, not trivial but doable if you have a bit of training. The panorama ranges from beautiful meadows, with many grazing animals, to the pass, where the famous and aesthetically superb Sass da Putia dominates.

A nice quiet climb in stages! From motorway 224, the first part is actually already false flat uphill. The real climb starts when leaving San Martin. You get immediately a tough part over an open Alpine meadow, where you see the road turning steeply towards a church (museum). Once there, you've had the first difficult part and the climb becomes a bit flatter. You even get a descent. Fine for that moment, but disastrous for your rhythm. Just before the village of Antermoia, where you turn into an Alpine meadow, the road starts to climb again. In the village itself this becomes more serious and at the exit of the village you get the most challenging part of the climb. It's not really steep, but it is the constant change of rhythm that you feel. From Antermoia on, the climb doesn't level off anymore, but you do get the opportunity to get into a rhythm. Nice climb, especially in terms of landscape and views. You drive through quiet mountain villages, through forests and mountain meadows, along streams and with continuous views of surrounding peaks (including Kronplatz). This climb so do not forget with all the surrounding offer of large cols.
