Asphalt in a few places with cracks (just 'mark' when going up to then avoid on the descent) but otherwise fine road surface. Behind Arola (about after 1/3rd) follows a steep section (>10％) of about 1 km. Top view of the lake.
Asfalt op enkele plaatsen met scheuren (even 'markeren' als je omhoog gaat om vervolgens te ontwijken bij de afdaling) maar verder prima wegdek. Achter Arola (ongeveer na 1/3e deel) volgt een steil stuk (>10％) van circa 1 km. Bovenop zicht op het meer.
Nice climb, the road surface on this side is occasionally moderate, otherwise the climb felt tougher/longer than expected, as I already had some altimeters in my legs from Omegna. Well worth it as far as I'm concerned, the descent on the other side is technical, but with nice views and good road surface. So this col is preferable to a simple lap around Lago d'Orta.
Mooie klim, het wegdek aan deze zijde is af en toe matig, verder voelde de klim taaier / langer dan verwacht, omdat ik vanaf Omegna al wat hoogtemeters in de benen had. Wat mij betreft zeker de moeite waard, de afdaling aan de andere kant is technisch, maar met mooie doorzichten en goed wegdek. Deze col is dus te verkiezen boven een simpel rondje om het Lago d’Orta.
