A short ascent to the Croce di Giovo pass from the village of Verla: a first ramp of around 500 metres at 10-12% leads to Palù di Giovo, the birthplace of brothers Aldo, Diego and Francesco Moser and of Gilberto Simoni (86 days in the pink jersey in total, and many other victories on the road and track). The crossing of Palù is essentially flat: once out of the town, the gradients become steep again for another 500 metres or so. Arriving at the pass, turning right the road actually remains slightly uphill for another kilometre, while turning left it descends towards the Valle dell'Adige. Not a memorable climb, but if you love cycling you should pass through Palù di Giovo and pay homage to the great champions mentioned above.
