I did this climb in July 2023 on a hot summer day. A few clouds saved me and the altitude, however: the hard part is between 1,200 and 1,600 metres, helps to dampen the sultriness. The climb is long, and I started it from Piove Fosciana as I was descending from the Passo delle Radici on the other side (Casone). The most demanding part is about 2km from the summit at the 18% sign.
From there onwards it climbs in violent bursts with a few pieces at 22%. The arrival in the hamlet of San Pellegrino in Alpe (which then gives its real name to the climb) determines the end of the hard part: from there onwards the % return to unity.
Not very comfortable for the Emilians: I had started from Lama Mocogno but still worth doing because we don't have many HC.

Thickly recommended and quite a challenge. But keep some energy left for the last few kilometres up to San Pellegrino, because it won't get below 12% from the 18% sign.

Climbed this climb in the summer of 2019. Good tarmac and very quiet on the road as it is not a major thoroughfare for road traffic. Despite the fact that this climb is not so well known it should definitely not be underestimated. The climb is very long and constant 8% in combination with the temperatures in summer it is no fun. Halfway up, the climb flattens out for a while and you have a beautiful view of the surroundings. But don't be fooled, the hardest part starts immediately after when the sign of "18%" appears. You will first face a short steep section followed by 5-6 hairpin bends of approx. 14-15% before arriving in San Pellegrino. A little further from the top is a short descent to Passo delle Radici where there is a water point, which you definitely need!

Highly recommended for people who want to try a HC-like climb on a quiet, well paved road!
