Actually, you can't call this a serious climb but a long continuous false flat with quite a few height meters. The start of the climb is actually at the bottom of the Gulperberg and then continues in an undulating way.
Nowhere does the climb get steeper than 2-3 times. What can make this part a bit harder is the wind, which has free reign and is often against you.
Enjoy the beautiful views and watch out in a few blind corners, it can be quite busy on this narrow road with other cyclists, walkers and cars,
Eigenlijk mag je dit geen serieuze klim noemen maar een lang doorlopend vals plat met toch aardig wat hoogte meters. Het begin van de klim is eigenlijk onderaan de Gulperberg en loopt dan golvend door.
Nergens wordt de klim steiler dan 2-3％. Wat dit stuk wel een stuk zwaarder kan maken is de wind die hier vrij spel heeft en die je hier vaak tegen hebt.
Geniet van de mooie uitzichten en kijk uit in een paar blinde bochten, het kan op deze smalle weg wel redelijk druk zijn met andere fietsers, wandelaars en auto's,
I can confirm the latter. The few cars drive reasonably quietly (but it can be tight because of the narrow road) but it is in the blind corners careful for descending cyclists who cut the corners (too) sharp.
Dat laatste kan ik beamen. De weinige auto's rijden redelijk rustig (maar het kan krap zijn vanwege de smalle weg) maar het is in de onoverzichtelijke bochten oppassen voor dalende fietsers die de bochten (te) scherp aansnijden.
In itself a relaxing climb, despite the considerable length. The road goes up and down quite a bit, so you can't speak of false flat. Some of the slopes are a bit spicier. Yet you feel this climb in a few hills and especially after a few kilometers. This is not so much because of this climb but because of the way to get to the start: via one of the Gulperberg-climbs. I had taken the climb from Partij and once you've reached the top, there's another 80 altitude meters to go.
On the way beautiful views to both sides and especially if you look back. Da's really enjoy. That is certainly true if you descend this climb and see Gulpen looming up before you.
Op zich een relaxte klim, ondanks de behoorlijke lengte. De weg golft wel behoorlijk op en neer dus je kan zeker niet van vals plat spreken. Enkele hellinkjes zijn wat pittiger. Toch voel je deze klim wel in een paar hellinkjes en zeker na een paar kilometer. Dit ligt niet zozeer aan deze klim maar wel aan de manier om bij het begin te komen: via één van de Gulperberg-beklimmingen. Ik had de klim vanuit Partij genomen en als je daar boven bent gekomen komen er dus meteen nog ruim 80 hoogtemeters achteraan.
Onderweg fraaie uitzichten naar beide kanten en zeker als je achterom kijkt. Da's echt genieten. Dat geldt zeker als je deze klim afdaalt en Gulpen voor je ziet opdoemen.
