The Niederbergbahn panaromar cycle path starts in Laupendahl near Essen-Kettwig and leads to Haan. This first section is constantly uphill, but rarely over 3%. However, the ascent to the route (according to Strava 11.3% at 130 metres) is already very challenging. The route is used by cyclists, inline skaters and pedestrians with their dogs, especially near the centres of Heiligenhaus and Velbert, so it can sometimes get tight. Rarely used side roads are crossed in a few places, so you can usually roll through. The route leads mainly through wooded areas, especially at the beginning, but also partly through residential areas and passes the campus in Heiligenhaus as well as the Forum Hitzbleck with its shopping facilities. After entering Velbert, the route continues over the Eulenbach Bridge (popularly known as the "Saubrücke") and offers a view over parts of the city. All in all, an interesting and probably the most reliable route from Essen to Niederbergisches Land.
