Scenic climb with most of the climbing in the beginning, on the tarmac road and the first few metres of the narrow cycle path. After that, it is mostly enjoyable scenery where you ride along several forest edges. At the end still into the forest where the path still rises slightly.
Landschappelijk mooie klim met de meeste klimpit in het begin, op de asfaltweg en de eerste meters van het smalle fietspad. Daarna is het vooral genieten van de omgeving waarbij je langs meerdere bosranden rijdt. Op het eind nog het bos in waarbij het pad nog licht stijgt.
Where should you look? Forward and on the bike path because it is so narrow or around you because of the beautiful surroundings? Cycle very calmly and then you can properly enjoy everything around you. Great for walkers, too.
Waar moet je kijken? Naar voren en op het fietspad omdat het zo smal is of om je heen vanwege de prachtige omgeving? Heel kalm fietsen en dan kun je goed genieten van alles om je heen. Ook fijn voor de wandelaars.
The path is easier to see from the north side. Beautiful scenery, but not much of a climb, even for a simple touring cyclist like myself. The first part is a bit tough, but after that there is plenty of time to recover and only towards the end do you get the feeling that it is going up a bit.
Vanaf de noordkant is het pad makkelijker te zien. Mooi omgeving, maar als klim stelt het niet zo gek veel voor, zelfs voor een simpele tourfietser als mijzelf. Eerste aanzet is even pittig, maar daar na ruim tijd om te "herstellen" en pas tegen het eind weer het gevoel dat het een beetje omhoog gaat.
This climb is classified as a 'hidden gem'. Hidden it certainly is. If you would make a bike ride on the spur of the moment, you would never discover it. At first, you drive up the Boersberg, but where you would normally go straight on, you soon turn left on a very narrow cycling path, just after camping de Boersberg. Despite the fact that I had loaded it on my Garmin, I still had to search for this path. The path has varying gradients, and brings you winding towards the highest point of De Boersberg. The surroundings are beautiful; you ride through forests and also encounter several meadows with animals like sheep and horses. Lovely cycling in nature. At the moment the path is covered with leaves, so you have to be careful and it is not a very pleasant ride. But in the summer it must be really enjoyable. On the path I met some hikers. The climb ends at the same spot as De Holleweg. In terms of challenge, The Holleweg has my preference, but for the variation, this is certainly a nice climb to tackle.
Deze klim heeft als classificatie 'verborgen juweeltje'. Verborgen is hij zeker. Als je op de bonnefooi een fietsrit zou maken, zou je deze nooit ontdekken. Je rijdt namelijk in eerste instantie de Boersberg op, maar waar je normaal gesproken je weg rechtdoor zou vervolgen, schiet je al vrij snel links een heel smal fietspad op, net na camping de Boersberg. Ondanks dat ik deze op mijn Garmin had ingeladen, moest ik alsnog zoeken naar dit pad. Het pad kent wisselende stijgingspercentages, en brengt je kronkelend richting het hoogste punt van De Boersberg. De omgeving is mooi; je rijdt midden door de bossen en treft ook verschillende weilanden met dieren zoals schapen en paarden. Heerlijk fietsen in de natuur. Op dit moment ligt het pad bezaaid met bladeren, dus het is oppassen en erg fijn rijdt het niet. Maar in de zomer moet dit echt genieten zijn. Op het pad ben ik een aantal wandelaars tegengekomen. De beklimming eindigt op de plek waar ook De Holleweg op uit komt. Qua uitdaging heeft De Holleweg mijn voorkeur, maar voor de variatie is dit zeker een leuke beklimming om eens mee te pakken.
