Beautiful and tough climb from Vrakelbergweg to Elkenrade. Depending on the time of year, you ride in barren surroundings or fields full of (flowering) crops but always with nice views. Elevation percentages fluctuate throughout the climb so you do feel you are going up.
Mooie en pittige klim vanaf de Vrakelbergweg naar Elkenrade. Afhankelijk van het jaargetijde rijdt je in een kale omgeving of velden vol met (bloeiende) gewassen maar altijd wel met mooi uitzicht. Hoogtepercentages fluctueren tijdens de gehele klim dus je voelt wel dat je omhoog gaat.
Nice climb, however over moderate tarmac with lots of gravel. After the hollow road the road winds up with a steep slope. Then you cycle parallel to the very beautiful valley (which you can see beautifully) on your left. Further on the route meets the Vrouwendelweg after which another steep part follows. As soon as the road flattens out again you're at the top.
Mooie klim, wel over matig asfalt met veel grind. Na de holle weg slingert de weg naar boven met daarbij een pittige helling. Daarna fiets je parallel aan het zeer fraaie dal (wat je mooi ziet liggen) aan je linkerzijde. Verderop komt de route samen met de Vrouwendelweg waarna nog een steil stukje volgt. Zodra het weer afvlakt ben je boven.

Mooie en zware klim over de kale velden (voorjaar). Asfalt is matig (veel landbouw resten) maar absoluut de moeite waard!
The old Elkenrader is certainly a difficult piece, personally I find the climb about 500m later on the right to Elkenrade much sneakier the first piece you have to push well and where the vegetation begins it becomes really steep, this pulls through to the villa on the right side of the road.
de oude elkenrader is zeker een lastig stuk, persoonlijk vind ik de klim die ca 500m later rechts op gaat naar Elkenrade veel geniepiger het eerste stuk moet je al goed duwen en waar de begroeing begint word deze echt stijl ,dit trekt dan door tot aan de villa die aan de rechter kant van de weg ligt. misschien een optie voor de amstel gold race
