This is a short, steep climb with a base just outside the centre of Oetz.
To reach the foot of this climb you'll have to get your feet wet. In the centre of Oetz, it's best to turn into Kühtai Strasse and stay on this road for about 1.5 km (which is already about 150 mph).
At your right hand side you will see the signpost to the Ötzerberg. From this exit it is about 4.5 km climbing (with almost constant gradients of more than 10％). When you reach the hamlet of Riedeben (2 houses and a chapel), you may say you are halfway. When the road goes underneath the cable car, you can start counting down. You still have 1 turn to make and about 1 km uphill. At Berggasthof Schönblick you'll see a sign telling you that you can't continue without the necessary permissions. If you want to register the segment of the climb in Strava, you shouldn't stop in front of this sign, but cycle some 5 meters further and turn around there.
On the way up, you will only occasionally pass a house (these are usually holiday homes). It is therefore a quiet road.
The road is completely asphalted, but not very wide (one-lane section). The quality is also not always 100％ (sometimes there are cracks in the asphalt). Especially during the descent you have to be careful. Especially because there are grooves in the road (to drain the water).
It is an open climb, which means that you can almost constantly enjoy beautiful views. Really a must if you are in the area.
Dit is een korte, nijdige klim waar de voet net buiten het centrum van Oetz ligt.
Om de voet van deze klim te bereiken zal je de borst al even nat mogen maken. In het centrum van Oetz draai je best de Kühtai Strasse in en je blijft deze weg ongeveer 1,5 km volgen (dit zijn wel al ongeveer 150 hm).
Aan je rechterzijde zie je dan de richtingwijzer naar de Ötzerberg. Vanaf deze afslag is het ongeveer 4,5 km klimmen (met bijna constant stijgingspercentages van meer dan 10％). Wanneer je het gehucht Riedeben bereikt (2 huizen en een kapelletje), dan mag je stellen dat je halfweg bent. Als de weg onder de kabelbaan loopt, dan mag je beginnen af te tellen. Je moet dan nog 1 bocht maken en ongeveer 1 km omhoog fietsen. Aan Berggasthof Schönblick zie je een bord dat je vertelt dat je zonder de nodige machtigingen niet meer verder mag. Als je het segment van de beklimming in Strava wilt registreren, dan moet je niet stoppen voor dit bord, maar een 5-tal meter verder fietsen en daar omkeren.
Op de weg naar boven zal je slechts nu en dan een huis passeren (dit zijn meestal vakantieverblijven). Het is dan ook een rustige weg.
De weg is volledig geasfalteerd, maar is wel niet erg breed (éénbaansvak). De kwaliteit is ook niet altijd 100％ (soms zijn er barsten in het asfalt). Zeker tijdens de afdaling dien je nodige voorzichtigheid in te bouwen. Zeker omdat er gleuven in de wegbedekking zijn aangebracht (om het water te doen afvloeien).
Het is een open beklimming, dat wil zeggen dat je bijna constant kunt genieten van mooie uitzichten. Echt een aanrader als je in de buurt bent.
