Candle straight approach road to Harrogate from Beckwithshaw. For the first few hundred metres, you still drive rather cosily under the pretty rows of trees, but once the road widens, the visual indulgence ends immediately... The road is heavily frequented by motorised traffic, so it is not really pleasant.
Furthermore, the road climbs ever so slightly, even naggingly uphill from the Saloon (depending on the headwind and the number of kilometres already driven).
Personally, I would avoid this route, there are nicer alternatives such as Cornwall Road.
